Multicultural New Year’s Party

We celebrated the entry of the New Year linked with diverse communities: Ethiopian Health Support Association, Zimbabwe Community Association, Sandblast, Research and Development Centre for Ethiopians in Britain and Inter-Cultural Youth Exchange UK.

It was a clear example of unity of races and countries, with the common link of volunteering and community work. We had a little taste of everyone of them – from Ethiopian injera to Mexican mole, and enjoyed the warm rythms of Latin America and Spain, the brownish colour of Saharawi paints, the passion of a Latin American singer-songwriter and the fun of karaoke. Some of us were even lucky enough to win a prize in the raffle!

Let’s hope this new year brings light and greater understanding between races, communities, social classes and religions, and that the gaps between them shrink. At Latin American House we will surely work towards that objective.
